Why so a blog?

Hello, My name is Michael.

Or better known by bonbolapti on the twitch-ernet. I do not know what to tell you about this, cause it’s like… “Bon, You’re a guy that uses Twitch, and you’re not really doing what everyone else is doing which is just sharing clips of yourself making a bigtime Gamesmin(tm) play across various forms of social media.”

Wait, there’s gotta be other streamers out there that also have their own personal website that they make fun posts on right? For the longest time, I only really used twitter.

And frankly, it’s weird that I’m going with Squarespace of all things instead of doing the cool late-90s-to-late-00s thing of making my own personalized website from scratch. Which, let’s be honest maybe that’s down the road, but I’ve already been paying for a squarespace site that I haven’t touched in what feels like 4 years so it was time to take those steps in making a change.

so now the big question…

What am I going to use Gamebaru for?

The short answer is, I miss having a website to call my own. Recently, I had it in my head that I wanted to do more fun things for myself. A year and a half into this pandemic and I had no time for anything. All I did was work, and if I was lucky enough to have the time I would stream something. But I want to draw more, I want to write more and Gamebaru is a centralized place for that.

Gamebaru interestingly enough has some history with me. It was a silly collaborative thing between a friend and I from YEARS ago, when I lived in Edmonton. Joined together by our love for Final Fantasy XI, we made a site where we just drew stupid game related comics, and psp wallpapers.

I still make the occasional boss key strip, and maybe you’ll see it on here sometimes.

So I wanted to bring Gamebaru back. Just for fun, just for myself.

Essentially. I will write the occasional blog about games I’ve been playing, critiques on the industry and the platform I stream on. Maybe draw some comics, Share video projects that I’ve helped work on, or made myself… hell, down the road I could even get back into podcasting. There’s an idea in there somewhere.

Thank you for stopping by and be sure to check out the stream and support if you like the content. Before I go, here’s a screenshot of the unintentional but somewhat inevitable mascot, Facegurl. She is looking toward the horizon as if this is some kind of fitting metaphor at the end of this blog.
